Meeting on match.com, this 21st century couple had some trouble with timing. The first date at CafĂ© Flora on August 16, 2006, was perfect, this was definitely going somewhere, so they thought. After two months of dating they broke up and went their separate ways. They didn’t stay too out of touch though, there was a hike in there, Jessica attended a gig or two of Evan's, and they cyber-stalked each other's online photo galleries and Facebook pages.
After dating other people without success, in February 2008 they started spending some time together, they were trying the friend thing. So why wouldn’t two friends plan a backpacking trip? They started planning a trip to Ancient Lakes, one of the dryer, warmer places for backpacking in March. They invited others, and no one actually thought winter camping was a good idea. They set out east on their own.
Evan made a lovely pesto dinner, they drank some wine, Jessica was flirting. They settled into the tent and talked about life and also talked about why they weren’t together. They decided to hold off on making any decisions about "us", so they slept on it. In the morning, they knew they had to be together.
Fast forward to November 26th, Evan proposed, Jessica said “of course.” On August 8, 2009, with their friends and family together they tied the knot. In May of 2010 they conceived and are expecting a little one in February of 2011.
