It was a year ago today that our little Oscar came into the world. There is a before Oscar, and then there is after Oscar. This is how I think about life.
Today, I am a little weepy thinking about how little my guy has grown and changed so much. He is becoming his own little person. My mom used to tell me to "stop growing" when I was little. I completely understand where she was coming from now, some 30 years later.
I could not talk about how amazing and life changing this year has been without saying how wonderful it is to have Evan as my partner in this journey. We've grown stronger as a couple, learned more about eachother's limits, and have found humor in very unusual places.
I have learned many things this year, but the most rewarding has been, learning to be patient. Yes, as a parent, but it has spilled into other areas of my life. There is nothing that can't wait. Oscar has taken an interest in small trees and bushes lately. On our walks home from daycare, I could rush to feed him dinner, get the mail, wash the dishes, etc. Instead, we stop at a few trees along the way, feel their branches, rustle their needles or smell the fragrance of a rosemary bush. It is patience where Oscar and I learn together, laugh together, and love each other.
Being a mom is awesome!
