Happy Birthday Evan!

Evan turned 43 yesterday!  Oscar was very excited to help prepare for the festivities of presents and cake.  I got out our boxes with wrapping paper, bows, ribbon, tape and scissors.  I started wrapping Evan's present, which is a kalimba (finger piano).  Oscar loved discovering all the bows and ribbon in the box and decided to make Evan a birthday hat.  I really wanted to make Evan a birthday cake this year with Oscar, but with work and other commitments this past weekend, it just didn't happen this year.  So I bought a Chocolate Mouse cake from the store and Evan was thrilled!  Oscar helped put the candles in the cake and sing happy birthday.  This birthday felt more meaningful with Oscar's enthusiasm, which was so special.  It made me think of how important traditions are for families, our family.  I think a birthday hat is now part of the tradition- yay for us!  What are some of your birthday traditions?
